Institute for War&Peace Reporting (IWPR) is an international organisation, whose activity includes holding of educational projects for representatives of state bodies, experts, researchers and journalists. IWPR has worked in Central Asia since 1999 and has registered offices in Almaty, Bishkek and Dushanbe.


The IWPR representative office in Central Asia is also connected with publication of analytical articles and researches. Article topics are carefully selected by editors, who choose only those that will be of interest for the reader. The criteria are exclusivity, relevance, compliance with international standards (logical consistency, narrow focus, etc.).


 


OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITY


We offer training, mentorship and platforms for representatives of state bodies, experts, journalists; we build institutional capacity of the media and public groups.


Regional representative offices build local networks, participate in extensive training and editing, and organise practical trainings and sessions for discussion. The head office of IWPR in London provides coordination and intensive editorial and logistical support.


A full set of tools at our disposal is suitable for every project of the country based on local needs, issues and available resources.

Publication of reports and analytical studies from Central Asia for the news service of IWPR “Reports about Central Asia”

    
                        
Reports about Central Asia offer a unique opportunity to local and international readers to have a look at the events taking place in Central Asia that are reported from the point of view of local observers.
This weekly news service published on the IWPR’s website (www.iwpr.net) and emailed to subscribers offers its readers the objective review of the news prepared by regional experts.

                    

                

                            

                    

                    

                        
Trainings

    
                        
IWPR holds trainings on intenrational standards for experts, public leaders, specialists of research entities and journalists. IWPR’s trainings offer practical skills of objective, reliable and prompt coverage of important themes and are designed to contribute to development of quality analytics at the local and regional levels.

                    

                

                            

                    

                    

                        
Contribution to dialogue and cooperation

    
                        
IWPR organises roundtable discussions, meetings and conferences dedicated to important themes in politics, economy, and social life. Through open discussion of relevant issues, IWPR helps to establish the dialogue between different segments of society. At its events designed to contribute to dialogue and cooperation, IWPR seeks to ensure representation of all stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society, media, business entities, and international community. About CABAR.asia


In 2014, IWPR founded the Central Asian Bureau for Analytical Reporting (CABAR.asia), a regional analytical, information and educational platform, which offers space for experts, scientists and politicians in the region to develop intergovernmental and regional cooperation. This focus on regional relationships is consistent with the concerns about peacekeeping, stability and security in the region. With CABAR.asia, IWPR has contributed to development of expert and analytical skills, held trainings in new media, and strengthened regional networks. It is the leading regional training centre and think-tank with over 1.5 million online views per year.


CABAR’s mission is to contribute to the implementation of mechanisms of constructive interaction between the media, government institutions, as well as representatives of the civilian sector in the Central Asian region.


CABAR ensures access to information of public importance of Central Asian countries by offering balanced and reliable analytical materials and video reports.


CABAR’s team are employees of the representative office of Institute for War&Peace Reporting in Central Asia, namely in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.


As part of the project on development of new media and digital journalism, we have managed to make our contribution to fighting disinformation in Central Asian countries. Taking into account the increasing audience of the information dissemination and consumption platforms, it is extremely important for all those who are related to information production and dissemination to have a strong understanding of how information is consumed.
